Third Coast Percussion "Currents" with Ross Karre & Rachel Beetz
Third Coast Percussion "Currents" with Ross Karre & Rachel Beetz
Hailed by The New Yorker as “vibrant” and “superb,” Chicago-based quartet Third Coast Percussion explores and expands the extraordinary sonic possibilities of the percussion repertoire, delivering exciting performances for audiences of all kinds. Formed in 2005, Third Coast Percussion has developed an international reputation with concerts and recordings of inspiring energy and subtle nuance. Third Coast Percussion is Ensemble-in-Residence at the University of Notre Dame's DeBartolo Performing Arts Center, tours internationally, and performs regularly in their hometown through their Chicago Concert Season. This season, TCP is introducing a new concert initiative, Currents, as part of their Chicago Concert Season, featuring premieres of newly commissioned works by emerging composers and other unique, boundary-pushing repertoire from today's most creative thinkers. The first concert of this new initiative will feature Mark Applebaum's outrageously inventive Straitjacket, featuring percussionist Ross Karre, and Tyshawn Sorey's contemplative Trio for Harold Budd, with San Diego-based avant garde flute-master Rachel Beetz, as well as bold new commissions from Jonathan Pfeffer, Adam Cuthbert, and ensemble member Robert Dillon.
