Rob Frye's Exoplanet
Rob Frye's Exoplanet
Steered by Rob Frye, Exoplanet is an ensemble whose mission is to launch acoustic improvisors into orbit around electronic synthesizers. The crew has featured members of Bitchin Bajas as well as drummers, horn players and string instrumentalists from Chicago. Last year at the debut of No Index's VOID INCIDENT series at Cafe Mustache, Exoplanet used tracks from the Voyager's Golden Record as propellant for their own trajectories, navigated by Frye, Ben Lamar Gay, Matt Davis, Lia Kohl, John Sutton, Quin Kirchner, Tommaso Moretti, and Dan Quinlivan.

IE
IE
IE (pronounced “ee”), from Minneapolis, MN, is a band devoted to experiences of hypnotic minimalism—sonic rituals from the future. They perform in various combinations with sustained tones, electronic whirrs, slow beats, video and film projections, metaphysical recitations, and carefully crafted atmospheres. IE's live performances have recently been featured at the Big EarsFestival, Milwaukee Psych Fest, Drone not Drones, Zebulon (Los Angeles), Elastic Arts, and Mississippi Studios (Portland, OR), among dozens of other venues. The touring lineup includes singer and bassist Mariel Oliveira (XOXO tech), keyboardist Michael Gallope (Janka Nabay and the Bubu Gang, Skeletons, Starring); drummer Meredith Gill, and keyboardist Travis Workman. IE released Pome, their first full-length album on Moon Glyph in Summer 2018. They are currently at work on a second LP.
