Ben Hjertmann
Ben Hjertmann returns to Chicago for a solo vocal/electronic performance. Music explores microtonal harmonies from high-prime harmonics, specific room resonances, inharmonic resonant objects, and sum/difference tones. Electronics include live room sampling, Just Intonation vocoder, microtonal samplers, and vocal processing. Lyrics circulate topics of birds, mountains, love, rooms, and numbers. The atmosphere is expansive and the light is dark.

Composer and vocalist Ben Hjertmann, whose previous compositions have run the gamut from a post-modern take on the once ubiquitous secular Medieval song “L’Homme Armé” to prog rock material that sounds deeply indebted to Brian Wilson.
