Violinist Austin Wulliman travels through a meditation on musical vertigo and claustrophobia alongside timelessness and a granular awareness of the seconds passing, still finding a peace of mind. Two new works by the violinist - known for his current work with JACK Quartet and years in Chicago with Ensemble Dal Niente and Spektral Quartet - take off into new territory inspired by familiar wellsprings. Wulliman's Insurgentes Sur boils with frustration while it hopes for the space to mourn created in works by Tyshawn Sorey, Elliott Carter and Morton Feldman. Ann Cleare's Inner surges into the deepest, blowing sonic details up microscopically, while Andrew Greenwald's daringly virtuosic tightrope walk A Thing Made Whole tries to stitch the pieces of music back together. Percussionist Kyle Flens and pianist Winston Choi join Wulliman, as well as the accompaniment of the violinist's own voice in the new Frame for solo violin.
