Join ~Nois as the quartet opens its 4th season with a program dedicated to their home of Chicago. The program includes existing works by Chicago-based composers Clay Mettens, Augusta Read Thomas, and Mischa Zupko along with world premieres by Jonathan Hannau, Sam Scranton, and Kelley Sheehan.
~Nois is an award-winning saxophone quartet from Chicago, IL founding in 2016. Known for its “masterclass-level demonstrations of precise articulations and glowing legatos” (I Care if You Listen), “truly innovative musicianship,” and “raw creativity” (Cacophony Magazine), the group blurs the boundaries between contemporary classical music and experimental improvisation. In recent seasons, ~Nois has performed with Eighth Blackbird, the Bang On A Can All-Stars, flutist Claire Chase, and singer-songwriter Shara Nova of My Brightest Diamond. Winners of the Silver Medal at the 2017 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition and the Second Prize in the Open Division of the M-Prize International Chamber Arts competition, ~Nois has been hailed as “technically superb and musically brilliant” (ClevelandClassical.com).
